Klausenpass

Today we took the first bus from Linthal up to Urner Boden. This saves quite a bit of elevation, mostly along a road. Urner Boden is a beautiful valley elevated almost 1000m above Linthal.

We walked the valley floor to the start of the rise towards Klausenpass. The approach to Klausenpass began along the road and then cut away to go more direct than the switchbacks, quite steep. We only got lost once :-)

Near the top we had a close encounter with a huge military aircraft which was flying very low and popped out over the pass seemingly just over our heads.

We also surprised a marmot near the top.

Klausenpass seems to be a favorite with cyclists, motorbikes and sportscars. No wonder the Europeans have all the good climbers!
