All the advice is to aim for at most 10 kg. Here is what we are taking (in Alex's pack):
1 pack (Mammut Trion Pro 50L)
2 t-shirts, (Icebreaker, 150 weight)
1 long-sleeve glacier shirt (Berghaus)
1 long-sleeve glacier shirt (Berghaus)
1 thermal top & bottom (Icebreaker, 150 weight)
1 shorts (Prana)
1 pants (North Face)
2 pair sock liner (Various)
3 pair trekking sock (Various)
3 pair underwear (Ex-Officio quick-dry)
1 synthetic fill vest (MEC)
1 Soft shell jacket (Marmot)
1 shell jacket (North Face Summit Series)
1 shell pant (North Face)
1 broad brim hat
1 warm hat (MEC toque)
1 pair gloves (the inners from my BD mountaineering gloves)
1 broad brim hat
1 warm hat (MEC toque)
1 pair gloves (the inners from my BD mountaineering gloves)
1 pair boots (Mammut Crest)
1 pair trail shoes (Montrail)
1 pair trekking poles (Black Diamond Ultra Distance)
1 sleeping bag (Mammut Sphere)
1 compass (Suunto MC-2 Global)
1 watch (Suunto Vector)
1 headlamp (Black Diamond)
1 swiss army knife (super basic version that my dad gave me when I was 8)
1 iPhone 4 (to keep this blog running...)
1 buff (survivor style - hopefully don't get voted off the mountain)
minimal toiletries
sunglasses
minimal toiletries
sunglasses
The Kev Reynolds book, and 8 maps
And that is where it should stop... but we are also taking (no surprises here)
1 camera (Canon 5D)
2 lenses (16-35 2.8L and 24-105 4L)
1 compact camera (Canon Ixus something or other)
many CF cards
And miraculously, it comes in at 10 kg-ish. Robyn is taking similar stuff, but weighing in at 9.2 kg. After the tragic demise of our 7D in Patagonia, we will be super paranoid about wet weather protection for the 5D! Water + Camera = Pain!
